This Sundance Award-winning short film is such good use of my time today:

30 minutes of grim yet delightful visual stimulation

TL;DR Synopsis: What’s it about?

“The Trader” is basically a short snippet of the life of Gela Kolochovi aka the Trader. He brings second-hand clothes, toys, household items or equipment, and other trinkets to the rural areas of the Republic of Georgia in exchange for Potatoes.

I don’t like “The Trader”s Film Reviews…

Many film reviews talk about “The Trader” being an exploration of poverty. I don’t really like that statement because I feel like it’s putting a layer of pity over the whole situation.

Which I totally disagree with.

Instead, I find the film highly HOPEFUL and filled with WISDOM that all of us “more fortunate” folks really need to get.

And so this article shall be all about that — the obvious things that we kinda forgot along the way.
