I’ve a new obsession and it’s Netflix’s “Midnight Diner”.

It’s basically short episodes of customers who dine at this little midnight diner ran by this wise-looking guy called “The Master”.

That’s the gist of it.

Whatever happens in each episode is as random as life itself.

But my favourite episode thus far is “Hotpot for One

It is a beautiful commentary on respecting the existence of someone else’s meaning of life.

🚨Spoilers Ahead!🚨

This episode revolves around Kae and her old classmate Chu.

Kae is an old woman living with her nephew Teppei, who is a bum — he has no job or ambition for life and basically just lives off his auntie. Chu is a single elderly man who still has a soft spot for Kae, his childhood sweetheart.

Their reunion spiraled into conflict when Chu decided to stand up for Kae when he sees how her nephew was treating her.

The ending scene where Chu finally understands Kae’s joy is a golden moment to watch. It warms my heart so much…
